Flora
At lower altitude the area of the Veľkopoľská furrow is covered with oak-hornbeam forest, partially by turkey oak forest and cinquefoil-oak forest. At higher altitude, the area is covered with both beech forest and beech-fir forest. In the creek valleys the area is rich in alder shrubs. Out of phytogeographically species, among the most significant species are species of mountainous character descending from higher altitude of Vtáčnik as well as thermophilic plants penetrating from Tríbeč and the Basin of Horná Nitra. In Veľké Pole a legally protected plant was discovered: Tephroseris longifolia. The dominant formation of Vtáčnik is formed by beech forest, which is of submountainous or even mountainous nature.
